Kevin Hilton has always been in motion. Whether it was the speed and turns of skiing, the thrill of cliff jumping or playing sports. As a child growing up in the outdoor paradise of Montana, the joy was in the momentum. If he was sitting still, it was to watch movies, video games, and sports on television. Determined to find a place to explore his love for the moving image, he enrolled in the film school at Montana State University. It was during that time that he reconnected with an old friend and had his first experience in film making serving as cinematographer, production coordinator and editor for the film,“Montana’s Sweet 16”, a hybrid adventure/travel/information documentary which challenged them to ski all 16 of Montana’s ski resorts in 16 days. This film led to Kevin meeting and working with legendary ski filmmaker Warren Miller. Kevin further honed his craft as a cinematographer and editor and was firmly on the path to mastering the art and science of capturing the intensity and thrill of movement on film. A group of friends he met at MSU helped Kevin get his first jobs specifically in motion graphics on 2 features for B movie studio Oracle Film Group. He was put to the test to expand his knowledge of motion graphics programs on the fly so that he could get dinosaurs moving and dogs talking!
Jobs as a cinematographer and editor for live concerts and also for music videos followed and then his job as news director. Never one to shy away from a challenge and always wanting to learn new skills, he accepted and excelled. Missing the world of images and movement, he segued into a job as promotion producer for the network, where besides setting up shoots, lighting and editing, he was able to reconnect with his passion: motion graphics, animating logos and creating dynamic moving graphics for the various news programs and their promos.
Kevin landed his first major motion graphics account with BulletProof Coffee. Working with the graphic design team he created the motion graphics that animated and brought the logos, copy and ultimately the product to life, helping turn this start up into a multi million dollar business. He has since been shortlisted for Clio Marketing for Budsfeed, and for Best Cannabis Marketing for Chill Steel Pipes (third place). Each job along his path has contributed to the momentum of Kevin’s combining the two, filming bodies and images in motion, directing, producing, and bringing it all together, has made Kevin the artist and the man he is today. And he keeps forging spending his free time learning more and more about the ever changing and growing art from that of creativity in motion graphic design, he hopes soon to lend his talents to work that has not just a commercial impact, but a social one as well. Delivering messages that are eye catching and attention grabbing for the greater good is a mission that he is passionately working to make a reality. Living and working firmly in the present, settling for nothing but the best in himself and his company.
